Chapter Four-Design
The chapter on design is really interesting to me. There are many things that I use that have good design and also bad design. An example of good design is the iPhone. There are other things that can function as well as the iPhone, but the way it feels in my hand and the way it looks add value to it. I think that are document cameras have bad design. I think that mainly because of the way that they have to be connected to the projector and the computer. It could use some color coding! Those connections with the screws are really poor design. They are difficult to use.
I like the idea of keeping a design notebook although I have not done that yet, but I think I will start keeping a list in my iPhone notes area! I am trying to be more aware of design in everyday things. What have you seen that is a particularly good (or bad) design? Do you have any solutions for design problems that you have seen? What do we as teachers design? What in your classroom has good design? What about your lessons?
